Okay, so.

Fri Sep 18, 2009, 7:56 PM
I realized the other day that I hadn't been around here very much lately, and that made me kind of sad. So here I am. (: I'm working on some stuff right now that'll hopefully get posted soon, but we'll see.

Anyway, let's talk. I'd like to talk to someone. <3

Also, I'll just leave this here, because everyone needs to read it: [link]
It is, without a doubt, THE most adorable fic I've ever read in my entire life. Not even kidding.

I want to know what your NaNo story is about, so I'm commenting on your page and hoping you'll tell me. :D
:iconlivelikejackxsally:
Ugh, I don't have anything yet. D: I don't even know what genre I'm doing! (I'm thinking fantasy, but...) How about you?
:iconshake-hips-not-fists:
Oh...I thought you said you did, I must have misheard you. Ok, so, this may take a bit.

Imagine a world hundreds of years from now where slavery is common. People are taken from their homes by aliens (atm unnamed) and sold to the upper classes as slaves. People are under the impression that it's a fair business -- everyone is a possible slave, and so people live in fear, but get on with their lives. However, the system is corrupt, and what the higher-ups of the world decided with the aliens years and years ago was that the aliens could take only the poor and homeless. Middle class if they had to, but never -- NEVER the upper classes.

Edie Simon is a fifteen-year-old girl with a fifteen-year-old girl life: an annoying (but lovable) little sister named Dot and an equally annoying (but nowhere near lovable) older brother, Greg. Then, Dot gets taken. Edie's parents are heartbroken, but have to get on with their lives. After all, there's no help for Dot now. Edie doesn't think so. (Greg is determined to side with their parents, even if he knows he'll end up siding with Edie in the end). Edie meets her town's friendly hobo, Jonathon Zesch, who knows more about what's going on and the corruptness in the government than any civilian should, and he promises he knows how to get her sister back. She believes him and sets up weekly meetings and Greg comes along to make sure Jonathon won't rape her or get her addicted to crack or anything. They proceed to have adventures.

I'm thinking a trilogy -- each one in a different main's point of view. The first one is about getting Dot back and the beginning of the war between the people and the government, from Edie's pov. The second is about the war mostly and from Greg's pov. The third is about life after the war (aka: I haven't decided yet) and from Jonathon's pov.

whaddya think?
:iconlivelikejackxsally:
Nope. Not even close. D:

Oh, that's awesome! Very creative. I'm excited to read it. ^.^ Do you have the characters' personalities all figured out yet, too?

A trilogy would be good for getting all the words, if you end up having trouble with that. And POV switches are fun!
:iconshake-hips-not-fists:
D: I'm sorry. I think you'd rock the shit out of fantasy. jsyk. XD

Why thank you! I'm exited to write it; I've been writing snippets in class. I have basic personalities figured out, but nothing too deep, atm.

Edie:
-- sarcastic
-- introverted
-- easily impacted
-- easily persuaded

Greg:
-- amused
-- not too serious about much of anything
-- kind of just skating by
-- prefers bigger crowds that he can meet people in and get lost in

Jonathon:
-- intelligent
-- outspoken
-- stands his ground
-- not into being a parent

Yeah, my current word goal is 45,000. That's if I have all the time I think I will to work on it. And my mom brought up the trilogy idea and I thought "HEY! I have THREE main characters...WHY NOT?!" XD
